Health Workforce for the 21st Century (HW21) is a consortium of organizations led by Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University. HW21’s goal is to accelerate achievement of 95-95-95 treatment targets through increasing the capacity, coordination, absorption and retention of nurses, midwives, pharmacists, community health workers, social service workers, and other related cadres that provide services to people living with HIV, TB, and other infectious and chronic diseases in high-HIV prevalence areas. The African Forum for Research and Education in Health (AFREhealth) is an interdisciplinary health professions organization that works with educational institutions, Ministries of Health and other stakeholders to improve the quality of healthcare in Africa through research, education and capacity building with a focus on health workforce development and interprofessional collaboration. It includes a geographic and linguistic regions of Africa; namely Anglophone, Francophone, Lusophone and Arabophobe. Membership is open to African and international institutions and individuals committed to Africa with strong, self-sustaining and robust health systems. HW21 seeks a Consultant, Membership Development and Strategic Communication to engage with AFREhealth leadership and the Secretariat staff team to achieve the purpose by building AFREhealth’s capacity to do the following: Membership and Strategic Communications - Develop AFREhealth’s strategy to grow its membership base (including organizations and individuals). The strategy will demonstrate the valued added and utility of membership in AFREhealth and include an implementation and costing plan as well as revenue projections.
- Establish a targeted communications and engagement plan inclusive of the symposia, webinars, editorials, branded collateral (e.g. standard Power Point, letterhead, business cards) presentations at conferences , publications (e.g. newsletter, flyers, press releases, etc.) and mass email drives to engage and inform members and potential members. The engagement plan will outline activities, timeline, accountability, reporting mechanisms and budget.
- Conduct a mapping of universities and other potential members (individual and institutional), inclusive of the potential members’ research interest areas and activities in which they’d like to participate
- Support AFREhealth staff and their website consultant to further develop the AFREhealth website so that and supports and links with the strategy to grow the membership base.
- Advise on either the development of /or purchase of database for administrative membership systems (AMS). Such a system will ensure that proper membership application (online), filing and documentation systems are developed and in place.
Expected Deliverables/Outcomes - A membership strategy and implementation plan (costing and revenue projections).
- A membership engagement plan outlining activities, timeline, accountability, reporting mechanisms and budget.
- A more targeted presentation of AFREhealth’s organizational priorities, programs, capacities, and tools on its website so that the website branding, messaging and content aligns with the communication and engagement plan.
- Marketing materials customizable for different potential members, funders and partners;
- Either develop or recommend which data base system for administrative membership systems (AMS) should be purchased.
The HW21 Senior Program Manager & Project Director based in Baltimore, MD, USA will provide oversight and support to the Advisor. The Advisor will work directly with the AFREhealth Chairs of the Membership and Communication Committees and the AFREhealth President and Executive Committee and liaise with the Secretariat Senior Program Manager as directed. The Advisor will have accommodation, travel, evacuation, local transport, and LOE coverage to be provided by HW21 and AFREhealth. |
