The Career Consultants help to ensure the success of every WashU student by providing excellent and attentive career coaching/advising, using a number of approaches including 1:1 appointments, developing and delivering workshops, and planning other related programs. Essential Functions:
POSITION SUMMARY: A Career Consultant will provide both individual and group career advising to undergraduate and graduate students as well as alumni supporting them through all stages of the career development process. The successful candidate will coach and advise students who are interested in their specific professional area(s) of expertise as well as provide general advising to those exploring and considering other industries/fields. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Provide guidance on career exploration, job, transitional program and internship searches, networking, interviewing, resume, cover letter and portfolio development, salary negotiations, workplace etiquette and the graduate school application process.
- Document advising notes.
- Follow-up with students.
- Work on special projects (serve on a committee, develop workshop curriculum, etc.).
- Develop and maintain relationships with campus partners and faculty, as needed.
- Other tasks, as assigned.
Job Type/Schedule:
This position is part-time and works approximately 10-15 hours per week during the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. during the academic year (August through May). Actual hours and days are scheduled based on the needs of our students and the availability of each of our Career Consultants. Attendance at monthly team meetings as well as orientation/training is required.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in related area with at least five years of full-time, related professional experience.
- Experience in software development or related field (may include but not limited to Big Data, Machine Learning, AI).
- Experience interviewing technical candidates, and mentoring or coaching experience.�
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in related area.
- Advanced interpersonal communication skills.

Salary Range:
The hiring range for this position is typically $24.66 - $32.06 per hour and is largely determined by a candidate's experience.
