The Consumer Lending team partners with other businesses across Wells Fargo to create and deliver transformational experiences that help customers gain access to credit. The vision for the Consumer Lending business is to leverage technology and data to make it simple for customers to easily access credit when and where they need it. Consumer Lending serves customers across the country through our distribution network of more than 5,300 retail banking branches and Home Lending offices as well as online and digital channels. This role will be responsible for managing the Consumer Lending (CL) model risk lifecycle and ensuring all models are compliant to Model Risk Management Policy, including the completion of model identification, risk assessment, performance monitoring, annual reviews, and validations within policy required time frame. This role will also ensure completeness of the CL model inventory, facilitate design/execution/training of CL Model Risk Governance procedure and support Regulatory/Audit exams. Specific Responsibilities: - Manage the CL model risk lifecycle and ensuring all models are compliant to Model Risk Management Policy, including the completion of model identification, risk assessment, performance monitoring, annual reviews, and validations within policy required time frame
- Ensure completeness of the CL model inventory
- Lead Annual Model Risk Deep Dive and quarterly model attestation
- Present and escalate in the CL Model Risk Council to senior management team
- Support design/execution/training of CL Model Risk Governance procedure
- Monitor risks related to CL models and report key model health metrics on a regular basis
- Support Regulatory and Internal Audit exams of CL Model Risk Governance program and inventory
- Support Business Process Management (BPM) related activities related to Model risk across CL
Preferred work locations: Charlotte, NC; Des Moines, IA; and Concord, CA.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in analytics, modeling or a combination of both demonstrated through work or military experience; or a PhD in a quantitative field such as applied math, statistics, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics, econometrics, computer sciences, or business/social and behavioral sciences with a quantitative emphasis and 7+ years of experience in analytics, modeling, or a combination of both
- 2+ years of model risk experience
Desired Qualifications
- A BS/BA degree or higher
- Financial services industry experience
- Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and creative problem solving techniques
- Ability to manage complex data and reporting projects requiring coordination of resources at different levels both internally and externally
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
- Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a structured environment
- Ability to work and influence successfully within a matrix environment and build effective business partnerships with all levels of team members
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of research and analysis
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
