Consult with faculty in planning, developing, initiating, testing, and using new and innovative approaches to learning, instruction, and assessment; recommend appropriate technologies in developing course materials, delivery mechanisms, and course/instructor/student assessments to support effective teaching.
Coordinate initiatives; provide instructional technology expertise on selected initiatives as assigned, including Mosaic, Unizin, and projects supporting the IUE strategic plan. This could include estimating resource requirements, planning, organizing and scheduling work activities of personnel assigned to the project, and working with stakeholders across and beyond the university.
Conduct individual, small group, and large audience training sessions; develop, design, and prepare workshop materials; support faculty learning communities for key instructional technology initiatives.
Collaborate in larger initiatives and working groups to support the mission of the IUE Center for Faculty Development; attend and participate in planning meetings and committees with diverse members of the teaching learning community; represent the teaching center and UITS in campus efforts to improve teaching and learning; evaluate and respond spontaneously to requests for services; and inform supervisor and Director of resource needs.
Participate in quality assurance testing and requirements gathering for UITS-supported course management, portfolio, and collaboration systems.
Continue independent and formal professional development, including contributions to the scholarship of instructional technology.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field. Two (2) years of experience in instructional development. Two (2) years of experience in instructional technology consulting. Two (2) years of training in a higher education context. Two (2) years of experience in developing online instructional content using presentation software (Microsoft Office), multimedia design and production software (Adobe Flash, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Captivate), and Web publishing tools (HTML scripting, Dreamweaver, and JavaScript). Two (2) years of experience with consulting and training higher educational faculty and staff in a group, presentation, or workshop setting on the use of: Learning Management Systems; instructional technologies; eLearning strategies; and instructional design, development, and delivery. Two (2) years of experience designing traditional classroom, blended, and e-learning space at a higher education institution. Two (2) years of experience designing, implementing, and managing faculty development projects at a higher education institution. Two (2) years of experience evaluating instructional effectiveness using quantitative and qualitative methods and making recommended changes.
