The ECU College of Nursing (ECUCON) is recruiting for an instructional technology consultant with a focus on distance education (DE) related software development and support.
The primary purpose of the person in this position will be to utilize a variety of computer and/or advanced media-based technologies to plan, design, and support both classroom and DE curricula and/or programs/activities which are directly related to the institution's academic mission.
The person in this position will identify, augment, build, and support software that complements nursing educational activities and internal business functions.
The person in this position will work collaboratively with the existing technology support team to provide technical support to CON faculty, staff, and students. This position reports to the ECUCON IT Director.
The responsibilities of this position include:
New technology projects;
Assist in the planning of technology projects;
Provide expertise and guidance for technology projects with the CON;
Design and manage technology projects;
Support existing technologies projects and equipment;
Participate with members of the CON technology team in testing, deploying, and configuring hardware and software related to the college's academic mission;
Participate with members of the CON technology team in supporting faculty and staff in activities related the college's academic mission;
Collaborate with nursing faculty and staff in the process of establishing academic software, hardware, and multimedia standards and best practices;
Evaluate utilization of hardware/software equipment and systems related to the college's educational mission;
Research new technologies in relation to online course delivery, multimedia format and delivery, and special projects; and,
Act as a CON representative in university wide technology initiatives/projects.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in application/software development; or Bachelor's degree with some computer coursework from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in application/software development; or Associate's degree in computer programming and four years of experience in application/software development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The College of Nursing (CON) is an academic unit within the Division of Health Sciences of East Carolina University. The School has a Baccalaureate program, RN-BSN Program, RN-MSN Program, and Master's Program which includes concentrations in FNP/ANP, Nurse Midwifery, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Alternate Entry, Nursing Education, Nurse Anesthesia, Nursing Leadership, Clinical Nurse Specialist.
