POSITION SUMMARY: The Sales Consultant is the key factor in managing the customer service relationship with the Duquesne community. Therefore, their primary responsibility will be to consult, research and quote to guide staff, faculty and students in the successful integration of technology into the campus academic and administrative infrastructures. The Sales Consultant must stay abreast of current and emerging technologies and how those technologies apply to the educational and administrative users at Duquesne University. The Sales Consultant will assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager for the preparation and processing of quotes, requisitions, receiving of vendor orders, and disbursement of fulfilled orders to the appropriate customer. The Sales Consultant will assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager for locating the best pricing, value, and volume procurement as part of efficient buying practice. The Sales Consultant reports to the Manager of the Campus Computer Store.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Staffs the retail floor during open Computer Store hours.
Greets all customers entering the Computer Store.
Operates a point of sale system (POSIM) to process transactions for computer products, peripherals and software and other related technology.
Operates credit authorization tools to complete transactions.
Maintains accurate item cards in the point of sale.
Creates item cards that will involve visiting multiple vendor sites to determine the best possible pricing and shipping terms.
Coordinates and assists the process of computer repair check-ins and pick-ups for the technicians.
Processes computer repair check-ins and pick-ups.
Performs triage on repairs as guided by the computer store manager and assistant manager. The sales consultant will provide accurate consultation for students, faculty and staff and follow up with a quote as needed.
Contacts private customers for pick-up of special ordered items.
Coordinates or execute deliveries of ordered product to University customers.
Performs daily closings of the retail store point of sale system and reconcile cash drawers, credit totals.
Answers the main Computer Store telephone and retrieves voicemail and returns all calls by the end of the business day.
Assists the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager, Technical Services and the Help Desk in the development of merchandising.This includes social media outlets, digital signage, website(s), retail floor signage, and other appropriate areas.
Assists the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager for producing communication instruments (e.g. on-line, printed) that guide Staff, Faculty and Students in the successful integration of technology into the campus academic and administrative infrastructures.
Assists the Store Manager and the Assistant Store Manager in the development of sales operations and events.
Assists the Store Manager and Assistant Manager in attending student events sponsored by other departments.
Illustrative examples include Nursing, Pharmacy open houses and new student orientations.
Assists the Store Manager and the Assistant Store Manager in fiscal management operations which include but is not limited to: inventory management receiving, volume procurement, and other store accounting functions.
Maintains the Computer Store main floor’s neat and presentable appearance. This includes dusting of product and cleaning of all demo equipment. The checkout counter will be clear of all personal items and its appearance will be conducive to completing customer transactions in a smooth and efficient manner.
Additionally, the Sales Consultant ensures that all product is accurately labeled, that there are no missing signs, and that all printed marketing materials are stocked and accessible for customers.
Assists the Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, Store Technicians, and Technology Buyers in inventory management operations.
Stays informed on current trends and developments and share the findings with Computer Store team and customers.
The Sales Consultant will stay familiarized with the consultation site for University Cell Phone Sales and Services offered by the Computer Store and will direct customers to the site as needed.
Maintains Apple Product Professional status per Apple’s program requirements
Although not a physically demanding position, the Sales Consultant will be required to lift and manipulate boxes typically not in excess of 40 lbs. on a routine basis. Assistance is available as needed.

1-2 years of related professional experience.
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
Recent Technology and/or Customer Service experience preferred.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot PC and Mac computers, tablets and other technology.
Ability to use design software (photoshop, pages, publisher) to create eye-catching marketing materials.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to correctly diagnose technical problems and communicate them to a non-technical customer.
