Columbia Basin College (“CBC” or the “College”) seeks a Human Resources Consultant 1 to perform a variety of first-level professional and confidential duties in support of the College's onboarding and training efforts. This position supports onboarding of new employees, new employee orientation and assists with providing organizational and professional development services to CBC departments and individual employees. This responsibility includes working independently within established guidelines while interpreting and applying College and Human Resources (HR) guidelines, rules, policies and procedures. This position reports to the Onboarding & Talent Development Manager/Business Analyst.

Assist in the coordination of campus-wide efforts to successfully onboard new hires including: executive, professional staff, classified staff and faculty positions;
Assist with reviewing and expanding new employee orientation and new employee networking events;
Assist in the design and delivery of systems to connect new-hires with mentors;
Assist in providing Professional Development Services to College departments and individual employees;
Assist with College-wide or divisional professional development plans;
Assist with providing individualized and customized training and professional development as part of the Professional Development Services of the College;
Help with a variety of other professional development tasks, including team building activities, meeting facilitation, coordination of internal and external trainers, tracking of campus-wide training attendance, etc.;
Schedule training for employees and supervisors at their request through the Department of Enterprise Services; coordinate budget charge backs;
Respond to inquiries from employees, supervisors and members of the public; assess client needs, identify and evaluate options, and recommend courses of action;
Learn and perform a variety of routine office support functions; and
Perform related duties as required.
Bachelor's degree from an institutionally accredited college or university, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field or coursework with an emphasis in these disciplines; and
Two (2) years of employment onboarding or training experience.
Experience administering training to employees; and
Columbia Basin College (CBC) serves the citizens of Benton and Franklin counties in Washington state with two-year associate degrees for transfer to a four-year university, and applied degrees for workforce employment. CBC also provides one-year certificates and basic skills for those pursuing a GED or high school diploma. CBC serves approximately 7,000-8,000 students each quarter.Columbia Basin College now offers bachelor degrees in Nursing, Project Management, Applied Management, Cyber Security, Information Technology, and Dental Hygiene. These bachelor degrees are in direct response to the needs of our community. As a result of community needs, Columbia Basin College has recently opened our new state of the art Social Sciences and World Languages Center at the Pasco campus.In July 2017, CBC will open its second, four-story Health Science Center in Richland. In addition to training CBC healthcare professionals, the Wortman Medical Science Center will also be a functional medical clinic as part of Kadlec Regional Medical Center’s family medicine residency program.CBC will open a student housing facility in September.
