Position DescriptionSimmons University is seeking a temporary Sponsored Programs Consultant/Specialist to support our Sponsored Programs office while the search for a permanent replacement is underway. The Consultant/Specialist is needed immediately and either part-time or full-time hours may be possible; hours and schedule can be flexible. This can either be a partially on-campus or fully remote opportunity. We are particularly searching for a professional with significant experience related to approval and submissions compliance, budget preparation and justification, supporting documentation and required institutional information, award set-up, financial monitoring, analysis and reporting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory policies governing research and involving human subjects and conflicts of interest.The Consultant/Specialist will report to the Executive Director of the Center for Faculty Excellence and will work collaboratively with a full-time Grants Administrator, who is part of the Sponsored Programs team.Qualifications:Bachelor?s degree from an accredited four-year college or university required, master?s degree preferred;Minimum of five years of higher education professional experience in sponsored programs in an academic setting involving both federal and non-federal funding agencies; in particular, we?re looking for expertise in approval and submissions compliance.Familiarity and applied experience with all types of award mechanisms, including but not limited to, grant writing, contracts, sub-contracts, cooperative agreements and compliance reporting;Demonstrated pre- and post-award management experience, including proposal development and completion of budget forms;Extensive experience with the operational and financial management of sponsored research grants;Excellent written and oral communication skills;Strong quantitative, analytic and problem solving skills to assess all aspects of a situation and make appropriate and timely decisions;Knowledge and understanding of regulations regarding research integrity and financial conflict of interest.Required Application Materials:ResumeCover Letter Instructions to Applicants: Please upload all applicable application materials (e.g. resume/cv, cover letter, writing sample, teaching philosophy, etc.) in the Application Materials box on page 2 ("My Experience") of this application.
