What you’ll be doing...
Business Analytics Center of Excellence (BACoE) at Verizon champions the deployment of progressive solutions and methodologies, to support data-driven innovation, and self-serve decision management.
The BACoE is currently looking for a versatile data science expert with an appetite for analytics in a cloud and open-source environment, to join the team. Critical expectation of the role is to move beyond compiling data, and help tell a story behind the numbers, for reliable decisions. The position offers an opportunity to drive better partnering and insights, while helping grow leadership skills. You will be considered a business partner and your contributions will make a difference. You will become involved in, but not be limited to, supporting significant decisions and new initiatives across the company.
Architect, develop and deploy predictive/ prescriptive models; leveraging core statistical practices and open source technologies.
Create and deploy solutions to support model simulation, visualization and collaboration requirements.
Ensure compliance to data governance and audit standards through collaboration and leadership.
Deliver agile application development services to help build a holistic self-serve analytics environment.
Create standard APIs, widgets and tools for consistent data consumption across user technologies.
Automate workflows and repetitive tasks, to simplify operations and increase productivity.
Leverage industry best practices and forward-looking organization plans, to create a sustainable maturity model for analytics apps developed; ensuring its effective roll-out.
Manage external and internal contributors to continuously adapt, enhance and improve our automated reporting and analytics platform; to support evolving business needs.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, with changing priorities and deadlines.
What we’re looking for...
You make connections between data from different sources, and synthesize it into one complete picture. You are able to independently architect, develop, test, deploy and manage data for large-scale analytics in finance. You are able to support platform and data requirements for financial predictive analytics.
You’ll need to have:
Degree in Analytics, Software, Computers, Statistics, Engineering, IT or related field or four or more years of work experience
Four or more years of relevant work experience in application development, advanced visualization, data management, business process automation or statistical modeling.
Experience building, deploying and managing applications in a cloud environment.
Experience working with multiple stakeholders in translating business needs to technical solution requirements, and then utilize heterogeneous data systems to build simple analytics solutions.
Experience in building functions, services, apps or widgets with big data, and deployed over cloud platforms using open standards.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Experience working with large cross-functional initiatives, including adoption of associated support processes, and engaging multiple stakeholders.
Strong SQL skills to work with PostgreSQL, BigQuery, Hive, Teradata and Oracle data sources.
Exceptional technical and communication skills, to present solutions in a compelling manner.
Technical experience with structured and unstructured data in cloud and on-premise environments.
Scripting ability to self-serve basic needs from database and application servers across platforms.
Knowledge of telecom and communications network.
