Talent Acquisition is an ambitious and enthusiastic team that manages the overall process of attracting and selecting talent for staff and professional positions at Vanderbilt University, focusing on creating and shepherding a world-class experience for our candidates and for the hiring managers with whom we consult. The team fills ~1,200 positions annually for various roles ranging from service, skilled trades, and administrative support staff roles to professionals in research, student and academic affairs, athletics, IT, business services, public safety, leadership, and more.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Talent Consultant will conduct thorough strategy sessions with hiring managers to fully understand and appreciate their ideal candidate's characteristics concerning knowledge, skills, abilities, and cultural fit.
Engage with hiring managers using a high-touch approach, and involve them in all aspects of the recruiting process.
Support and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in recruiting to increase the likelihood of welcoming new ideas and perspectives while creating pools of the most talented candidates.
Contextualize and assist hiring departments to understand how Talent utilizes digital outreach and social media to bolster candidate identification and sourcing.
Proactively build pipelines of talent based on hiring forecasts so there are highly qualified candidates available when we need them.
Review and assess passive candidates and applicants' resumes based on skills, knowledge, experience, and culture fit, and conduct behavior-based interviews to present a slate of hirable top candidates to hiring managers for their consideration.
Develop and nurture a candidate experience that translates to a high-quality working relationship and serves as the foundation for positive relations within the candidate's department, across the university community, and with those seeking to join the university in now and in the future.
Make data-informed decisions that provide customer-centric solutions to existing and future problems by developing and analyzing metrics, dashboards, and reports.
Actively seek out continual learning, development opportunities, and stretch assignments for ongoing career development.
Participate in special project teams and work on various recruitment or HR initiatives to enhance our customers, colleagues, and candidates' experience.
Qualifications
Proven experience in full life-cycle recruiting is necessary.
A bachelor's degree and 12 months of directly related experience are necessary; at least 36 months of directly related experience is preferred.
Expertise in sourcing and influencing passive candidates to consider new employment opportunities is necessary.
Strong customer service skills, with the ability to work and communicate with diverse clients and colleagues, are necessary.
Fluency in social media and digital outreach from a professional perspective is necessary.
Significant experience with Applicant Tracking Systems and demonstrable experience with Enterprise Resource Planning, HRIS, or other related HR systems is necessary.
Demonstrable experience fostering an employer brand, identifying talent opportunities and solutions through research, sourcing, networking, and having responsibility for a strong candidate and hiring manager experience is necessary.
Experience as a working professional in a large, complex organization is preferred.
