Position Summary: The Ancillary Testing Services (ATS) Consultant is responsible for meeting laboratory analytical requirements, information technology support, and quality assurance measures focusing on accreditation needs and requirements for the Health System. The position provides operational support to the ATS department as well as continuous development of the Point of Care Testing program. This is a senior level, professional position that works closely with the manager for technical and analytical support to the Ancillary Testing Services department to assure quality measures are met. This position works in collaboration and closely with acute care, outpatient, and clinic management, and nursing and clinic and ATS Educators. Work situations are varied and require leadership, technical expertise, the use of discretion, good judgment, problem solving and resolution, coordination, and independent (critical) thinking and decision-making. Major decisions are subject to the review and approval of the ATSM, Chief Nurse Executive or Point of Care Medical Director. Internal contacts include clinical and laboratory staff, clinical management and support services throughout MHS, Materials Management, and IS. External contacts are extensive and include physician office staff, and primary care providers (RNs, etc.).
Minimum Requirements: 5 years laboratory experience with progressive responsibility 2 years experience with Lab Systems and IT Systems operation Previous experience directly involved with successful laboratory accreditation Minimum 2 years teaching or preceptor experience Experience with diagnostic laboratory instrumentation
Education/Licenses/Certifications: Certification as a MT (ASCP), preferred or MLT(ASCP) or a bachelors degree in a physical, chemical, or biological science Possession of a valid Washington State Drivers License
