UK HealthCare is seeking a nurse to work with diabetes care providers (e.g., physicians, advanced practice providers) to provide integrated, comprehensive, and global management of patients with diabetes-related disorders. This individual will demonstrate a high-level of practice in diabetes education, including but not limited to care coordination and management, autonomous assessment, problem identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation of diabetes care. The selected candidate will be guided by a Master Licensed Diabetes Educator within the individual scope of practice, and provide high-level counseling, regimen adjustment, therapeutic problem solving, and guidance recognizing and prioritizing complex data. This position will engage in clinical and educational assessments to guide clinical decision-making and serves as a resource for development and/or review of materials and policies, and maximize teaching and learning skills with a focus on analyzing, evaluating, and creating. The Diabetes Education professional demonstrates positivity and the ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.
Applicants who possess the Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) certification and are eligible to apply for Master Licensed Diabetes Educator (MLDE) licensure are eligible to be hired into a RN Diabetes Consult Sr/Inpat-Cert/UKHC position with a 4% increase in base pay.
Applicants who are not certified at time of hire are eligible to receive a pay increase and be moved into the Certified role once certification has been obtained and 90 days of successful employment have been completed. All pay rates will be based on candidate's experience.

Excellent verbal communication skills, strong written communication skills, strong clinical skills, ability to engage and motivate others, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Knowledge of computer software, expertise in interdisciplinary team collaboration and relations, ability to work independently, and ability to provide technical advice, guidance, and support to professional staff. Experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
