This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Information Technology Consultant, competency level 3, position for the College of Veterinary Medicine at Oregon State University (OSU).
The Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine provides veterinary professional and graduate programs leading to the DVM and MS degrees with approximately 320 students annually and operates the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) and State of Oregon's Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (OVDL). The College budget (from all sources) approximates $21 million annually, which supports educational programs, veterinary medical and diagnostic public services, and research programs with broad impacts related to animal and human health. The College employs approximately 300 faculty and staff, plus student workers.

This position provides Information Technology services to the faculty, staff, and students of the OSU Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine (CCVM), Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH), and Oregon Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (OVDL) in support of the missions of the college, VTH, OVDL, and OSU IT. Responsible for managing the day-to-day technology operations of the CCVM, VTH and OVDL ecosystem. Daily operations include, but are not limited to; managing the ticket queue and user support requests, workstation and peripherals support and maintenance, tier one support for specialized medical equipment, tier one network support and maintenance, identity and access management, user onboarding/offboarding processes and training, telecommunications, purchasing, and asset and lifecycle management. Plans, organizes, assigns, and evaluates the work of the CVM IT student workers. Plans and coordinates the implementation and support of standard and specialized interface equipment. Plans, organizes, and deploys systems and partners as needed with the CVM IT technical team on network infrastructure with new and advanced technologies. Researches technology trends as they apply to the campus/veterinary environment and provides recommendations for continuous improvement, change, and modernization. Applies broad knowledge to standard and non-standard technical applications to solve a wide range of problems. Participates in the development of technical and security policies and standards. Provides support/operational services for all levels and/or areas of college and facility.

Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):
This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills of technology and information systems generally obtained through an AA degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified course work in applicable fields of study and at least one year of related work experience.
Requirements :
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical information to audiences of varied levels of technical knowledge and to provide distinguished customer service.
- Extensive experience and knowledge of computer systems including Windows, Android, macOS, iOS, hardware and software.
- Experience supporting workstations, peripherals, printers, and end user devices in a large networked environment.
- Experience deploying large numbers of PCs using imaging systems and deployment software.
- Demonstrated organization and prioritization skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to understand, learn, and implement new hardware, operating systems, and software applications.
- Must be able to pass Criminal/Homeland Security background checks (Pharmacy Security.)
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
Type:
This position is required to work in a windowless office environment in a Hospital and Research/Diagnostic facility; incumbents may be exposed to areas where medical procedures, necropsies, and odors not common to other academic units on campus may be present. CVM IT supports functions across multiple buildings. The ability and willingness to work flexible hours as needed is required; this includes weekly workstation maintenance scheduled after regular business hours and troubleshooting critical business systems for a 24/7 hospital environment.
