JOB SUMMARY: The Lactation Consultant demonstrates specialized knowledge and expertise in breastfeeding, management, and support of lactation. The LC provides competent services to mothers and families and performs a comprehensive maternal, child and feeding assessment related to lactation. The LC provides patient, family and staff breastfeeding education in collaboration with the Women's Services department nursing leadership for the specified Harris Health pavilion. The LC provides breastfeeding support to antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patients who require breastfeeding support throughout the facility.
