We are looking for an enthusiastic individual into our team in Leeds, acting as part of our national Strategic Advisory Team. Cushman & Wakefield's Strategic Advisory Team is a specialist national group within the wider firm. We apply a blend of real estate, financial, management consultancy, organisation and procurement skills to enable our clients to find creative solutions to their use and management of property and facilities. This role is an opportunity to develop a wide range of property skills in a consulting environment, advising clients on a wide variety of property related issues that impact their organisation. Our clients are mainly public sector organisations, including universities, central government departments and local authorities. We also trade as the Public Sector Advisory Team (PSAT). Our work often sits at the interface between public and private sectors, creating new partnerships and innovations - in health, housing, student accommodation and a whole host of other areas. Our role is often to work out the "art of the possible" and then implement the resulting strategy to the benefit of our clients. The work typically involves preparing strategies, undertaking feasibility studies / appraisals, developing business cases (including with option appraisals and financial models) and defining and implementing appropriate property solutions ranging from real estate change (disposal, acquisition and construction) through to joint venture arrangements and outsourcing models.
Job Description
In this role you will advise on all aspects of real estate strategy and consultancy, managing projects from analysis through to completion. You will also be required to take the lead on some client mandates, ensuring the professional delivery of services and to take responsibility for agreed business development activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify and implement a plan to develop a client portfolio
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with new and existing clients, actively developing business opportunities
Day-to-day liaison with assigned client representative(s) during an instruction
Establish and maintain own profile internally and externally through effective PR and promoting our services
Manage or contribute to initial discussions, preparation of tender documents, delivering pitches/ presentations and conducting negotiations
Ensure projects, reports, etc. are delivered on time and in budget
Strengthen Cushman & Wakefield's integrated portfolio by building links across business groups and global office network and working collaboratively to generate new instructions, pool expertise and provide advice
Proactively look for / target, new business and revenue opportunities with new and existing clients
Identify and deliver cross-selling opportunities for other areas of the business
Contribute to projecting annual fee income via accurate fee forecasting/managing potential fee pipeline
Understanding of product pricing and maintain profitable fee structures
Identify, manage and mitigate risks by implementing plans to review output of quality and risk procedures and achieve clear internal and external audit reports
Keep own knowledge of relevant case law up to date
Lead and co-ordinate the work of team on client projects; prioritise activities and delegate on the basis of appropriate expertise and development needs of team
Participate in non-fee-generating activities such as graduate recruitment, L&D, resourcing and support local office social activities
Skills and qualifications:
Degree level qualification
Qualification with professional body and member as appropriate (MRICS preferred) but not mandatory
Demonstrable ability to take responsibility of sizeable and complex client instructions
Experience in networking and building relationships internally and externally
Experience in leading client contact, conducting pitches and presentations
A curious mind and with enthusiasm for challenging projects and new areas of work
High level of ability to use own initiative
Demonstrable technical competence in areas relevant to role
Conscientious, organised and with an eye for detail
A team player with strong inter-personal skills
Financial acumen and budget management
Strong written and verbal communicator, able to present ideas and recommendations to clients clearly and confidently
Report writing experience
Strong numeracy skills
IT skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet)
