Join us in improving the health and well-being of Washington State residents through hands-on disease prevention and community engagement! While based remotely, this role requires the incumbent to reside in Benton or Franklin County and travel throughout the Central Washington region for fieldwork.
As an Infectious Disease Prevention Field Consultant within the Office of Infectious Disease (OID), you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of Washington State residents. You will contribute directly to the state's Hepatitis C (HCV) prevention and intervention programs, working with partners at both the local and regional levels. Your work will include field investigations, supporting disease intervention efforts, and helping to ensure access to testing and treatment services. This role provides you with the opportunity to affect tangible public health outcomes, particularly for marginalized and high-risk populations.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Hepatitis C Disease Intervention: Plan, develop, and implement disease intervention services, including surveillance, investigation, and contact tracing. Assist infected individuals in accessing necessary medical care and support services.
Monitor and Quality Assurance: Monitor and provide quality assurance oversight of contact investigation and disease intervention services cases in assigned regions. This includes direct technical supervision of local workers providing HCV partner services to the public.
Training & Consultation: Provide consultation and training to local health jurisdictions and community partners to ensure they can effectively deliver HCV services such as testing and contact tracing.
Surveillance & Reporting: Manage and analyze data related to Hepatitis C cases, providing timely feedback and consultation to local partners. Ensure high-quality data collection and reporting from all relevant parties.
Program Improvement: Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement improvements to existing HCV prevention and intervention programs.
Field Testing & Care: Provide direct Hepatitis C testing and support linking individuals to ongoing medical care.
Partnership Building: Strengthen relationships with healthcare providers, community organizations, and government agencies to expand the reach and effectiveness of HCV prevention and treatment services.
Option 1: Six (6) years of experience providing or administering public health programs and/or services, at the state or local level.
Option 2: A bachelor’s degree or higher; AND three (3) years of experience providing or administering public health programs and/or services, at the state or local level.
AND
Experience in the following:
Demonstrated dual language skills to read, speak, write, and translate, Spanish to English and English to Spanish.
Designing, developing, and implementing program coordination, capacity building, and quality assurance plans.
Communicating, orally and in writing, with members of marginalized or disparately affected communities.
Using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
