Position Information:
Under the general direction of the Director, Benefits, Health & Wellness, the Benefits Consultant will work closely with new employees to assist with their benefits inquiries and administration of benefits programs.

The full salary range for the Benefits Consultant is $29.21 - $51.15 per hour. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $40.70 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Experience Requirements

2 - 4 years of related experience.

Experience with UC and/or UCR applications and systems.

Experience in Public Sector or higher education.

Possesses analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of organization policies and procedures; knowledge of functional area and understands how work may impact other areas.

Knowledge of the employee benefits function and other areas of human resources.

Demonstrates skill in conducting limited analysis and in writing and speaking clearly and effectively in order to provide information and some interpretation of programs to managers and employees.

Demonstrate knowledge of applicable state and federal law.

Uses professional benefits concepts to resolve issues that are moderate in scope and impact where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions and recommendations. Has internal and some external contacts. Normally receives general instructions regarding on-going benefits assignments with detailed instructions provided on new projects.

Department Custom Scope
Under the general direction of the Director, Benefits, Health & Wellness, the Benefits Consultant will work closely with new employees to assist with their benefits inquiries and administration of benefits programs.

Primarily responsible for facilitating New Employee Benefits Orientation (NEBO). Assist with new employee benefit inquiries related to enrolling in benefits, selecting retirement option, updating beneficiaries, coordinating financial planning meetings, and ensuring full resolution of any pending issues.
