The senior statistical consultant in the Statistical Consulting Center (SCC) provides statistical support to all faculty, graduate students, and staff at WSU.
This role involves collaborating with researchers at WSU to understand their research, designing appropriate statistical methodologies, analyzing data, and interpreting results and providing support for grant proposals. The senior consultant will also mentor and supervise any additional consultant staff hired into the SCC, and will collaborate with statistics faculty and student consultants to increase consulting capacity.
This position will support research data collection, management, and data reporting.
Required Qualifications::
A Master's degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field
Strong understanding of a wide range of statistical methodologies.
A minimum of 2 years' experience as a statistical consultant or a data scientist.
Demonstrated experience with outreach and relationship building.
Proficiency in statistical software including R and SAS. Experience with Python.
Demonstrated ability to work as the lead consultant responsible for designing and implementing consultancy projects.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex statistical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Project management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Provide statistical background to support designing clinical trials and research
Be detail-oriented, be able to manage multiple tasks, and be self-motivated and driven
Preferred Qualifications::
Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field.
5 years' experience in statistical consulting or a related field.
Leadership and mentoring skills to guide and develop junior team members.
Experience applying statistical methods used in clinical and public health research is desirable.

Statistical support for WSU faculty, students and staff to design experiments, run analyses, write reports, respond to reviewer concerns, grant proposal support and effort support.
Using statistical software to gather, analyze and interpret research data.
Developing, programming, and maintaining complex statistical databases.
Formatting data to develop and prepare reports, charts, tables and other related documents.
Consulting on best practices for statistical analyses for various projects.
Working as a member of a research/study team to provide appropriate statistical input in the design, execution, and analysis of studies.
Assisting in the development of operations and procedures for the collection, editing, monitoring, verification, and management of statistical data.
